when i was younger,
i thought i could be what i wanted to be
growing up in this land
of "democracy"
but now i know better
we work our fingers to the bone
working for minimum wage
the bank just took my home

walk down the street
and see those in need
while the leaders
they vote for the greed
it'll take some work
but we'll get it right

when we're living in the corporate states
of america, of america

i got a friend who's sick
she's getting sicker still
lobbyists bought her congressmen
now she can't afford her pills
everyday it's the same
the banks are just too big to fail
well, what about the rest of us
who are living in this hell?

walk down the street
